The Old Vicarage B&B in Tideswell is a Grade II listed former vicarage; situated in the heart of the picturesque Peak District village of Tideswell. The Old Vicarage was the vicarage to the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, a magnificent church dedicated to St. John the Baptist which was completed in the 14th century. Owners Andrew and Tricia have converted the Old Vicarage into a comfortable home offering luxury B&B accommodation and approached MM&B Studio to help refresh their web-based operations.

Refurbishing a successful user experience

We were tasked with bringing the existing branding and interface up to a modern day standard, whilst maintaining the traditional look and feel of the property’s identity. We invited photographer Mo el-Fatih to shoot the project and help us present the property, with his expert ability in capturing lighting.

Client's requirements

The objective was to migrate an elegant but sparsely populated website into a modern WordPress theme:

Modern, mobile-ready, search engine optimised WordPress website which can be easily updated by different users
Integration with CheckFront accommodation booking channel manager, allowing synchronisation between popular platforms such as AirBnB, Booking.com and HomeAway
Creation of content promoting local landmarks and activities
Replicating sitemap structure to minimise 404 errors

Proposing innovative concepts

In addition, MM&B Studio proposed new concepts and was commissioned to provide:

Public facing front end site, promoting the business and services
Art direction and collaboration with Photographer Mo-el Fatih, providing assets for the website and online presence
Interactive 360 degree panorama, allowing potential guests to explore the rooms before they book
Ongoing support, hosting, configuration of web based services
Monthly search data review, providing visitor engagement behaviour and strategic insight

Project Summary

Launching in 2020, the Old Vicarage B&B is able to easily update and collaborate with project contributors efficiently, reacting to the ever-changing conditions of Coronavirus lockdown regulations. With the UK relying mainly on British holidays in 2021, The Old Vicarage enjoyed a very lucrative year and that is a trend which continues to deliver.
