Network registration and reporting system

Active Communities Network is a community sport for development charity based in London, Manchester, Dublin and Cape Town. Their priority is to tackle poverty, create opportunities and inspire change by delivering grass roots projects, primarily through sport as a pathway into education, training and employment.

The ACN team briefed MM&B to create an accessible system, improve reporting, increase data storage, allow faster performance and instant data access. To also allow multiple staff at various user levels to set up events and monitor the progression of service users.

In 2018, ACN commissioned the development of a custom built Android App to help session leaders take attendance registers, create reports and control the access of sensitive personal data.

Project Details

ACN required a robust system that allowed reliable input and search activity. It is essential that data queries such as reviewing service users and creating reports for stake holders were enabled. Day to day ACN required a platform to create events with multiple sessions, repeating events, add service users, collate registers and record time sheets for each session. This was combined with reporting tools to measure the success of events offered in different locations.

Client's requirements

The initial objective was to re-comprehend the existing database, then design and develop a secure reporting tool, covering the following areas:

Assessing and tracking the professional and social development
Recording accessibility for predominantly N.E.E.T.
Scheduling staff, service users, events and pathways
Creating and registering the attendance of sessions
Multi-functional stake holder reporting tools to demonstrate progress and define successful criteria by geographic area

What MM&B Studio provided

Data extraction from existing systems transferred to match new or existing data sets. Accessibility to a wider audience of charity event holders linked to ACN.
Enhanced user experience dashboard interface. A fully optimised, database structure, formatted and interpreted by a MySQL and Cake-PHP based system.

Ongoing work with ACN

Intuitive design enabled simple notifications where events did not meet agreed targets. The system has been well adopted and continues to grow! Impressed by improved system efficiency ACN has commissioned further extensions including an exciting opportunity with the Rio Ferdinand foundation and new mobile app.
