Support Service Review System for Victims Choice

Supporting Justice are a Community Interest Company with a clear and simple vision: To help make justice and social sectors work more effectively. Specialising in issues affecting victims, witnesses and their needs, Supporting Justice work predominantly in the criminal justice arena. Having worked with organisations such as Citizens Advice, the Criminal Courts of England and Wales and the Commission for Victims and Survivors in Northern Ireland, Supporting Justice are one of the leading bodies in the UK when it comes to Service Improvement, Training and Assessment of Victim Support services. Supporting Justice have an exclusive distinction for the very best Victim Support Service providers, known as the Victim’s Choice Quality Mark. This certification was the first of its kind in the UK and at its platinum level, it provides a benchmark for other services to aspire to, delivering a service that goes beyond what is expected and can be considered excellent.

Supporting Justice required a platform assisting the public in finding out information about organisations that provide services relevant to their needs. We were often reminded that we can find many reviews for a toaster or gadget but rarely for funded services to help victims in very difficult circumstances. The service providers would be assessed in five areas – Access, Needs, Valued, Support and Safety. The index of providers contains both quality mark awarded and also non-awarded organisations, with a requirement to filter through the results in various ways. It was important for providers to be searched within a radius of proximity but also for them to be filtered by categories into the 43 police commission areas.

MM&B Studio provided a system which allows organisations to have an editable profile with reviews, images, locations and a wealth of useful data for users to filter and search through. The ability to make an informed decision about an organisation’s provision of specific care is essential for each site user. There are directory listings covering the 43 police commissioner areas, advanced geographic search and filter options. The complexity of the project included the search criteria and the geo-coding required to maintain site speed efficiency and search results accuracy.
